Blog Attempt #4 (I think...)

(Written about 3 months ago...)

The past few weeks have been full of a lot of lasts and a lot of goodbyes. I had my last college class, my last final, my last day at Calvin College. I said goodbye to my friends, my professors, my home for the past four years. As I did these things for the last time and said goodbye to these people and places, I was struck with this sense of sadness, excitement, disbelief, uncertainty, love, loss, nostalgia, and a mass of a bunch of other emotions all tied together.

As someone graduating from college, you can guess what the most commonly asked questions are: What are you doing next? What are your plans for the future? What do you want to do with your life? And the follow-up question is How can we stay in touch? How can I hear about what you're up to? So, in an attempt to keep you all updated, even though I still really don't have any idea what I want to do with my life and my plans for the future are limited to the very near future at the moment, I have decided to start a blog. Again. Many of you know that I have attempted to start blogs in the past. I started one during Lent one year and intended to post on it every day. I probably posted around 5 times. I started a blog when I was studying abroad in Peru and again when I was studying abroad in Honduras. Neither of those blogs lasted much longer. But this is a blog for my life. So who knows? Maybe blogs will cease to exist in a few years. But potentially this could span decades. We'll find out. Anyways, I'm going to have more realistic expectations for this blog. I'm not going to make any promises about how often I'll post on it or what subject matter I'll write about it. At this point I think it will be some mix of life updates, random thoughts, photos, etc. And even if no one else reads it, I want some way to collect my thoughts, memories, and experiences as I move into this next stage of life.

Keeping in touch goes two ways; it doesn't all fall to me. I will make an effort to stay in touch with you but I'd love if you all would make an effort to stay in touch with me as well. Email (hannahLblackwood@gmail.com), Facebook, and text message will continue to be good methods of staying in touch with me.
